We have to admit, we weren’t quite sure what to expect from this car show. We are used to the type of antique and vintage car shows that are held outdoors in the summer in small towns across New Jersey and in Pennsylvania. In these shows there is much more of an emphasis on the restoration of cars to a previous glory than there is on the remodeling of cars into something never seen before. We knew this show was more of a hot-rod show, with a strong emphasis on the Pimp My Ride School of custom car work, but we wanted to see it anyway.
The show had a good mix of restorations and remodels. One of our favorite displays in fact was a complete redesign of a 1940 Ford Coupe. You can see it and read more about it on our Atlanta Car Show Virtual Tour Feature Here.
The Georgia World Congress Center is one gigantic convention center and exhibition hall. Walking around the center trying to find the main entrance to the car show felt like walking around the world. This place just goes on and on. It felt like we walked a couple of miles after we got inside the building. One of the largest multi-purpose sports and entertainment complexes in America, the GWCC contains over 90 square acres of actual floor space.
The car show cost us $15.00 each, and it was well worth it.
