I wasn’t expecting much the day I popped in to the Atlanta Symphony Store at the Woodruff Arts Center. These types of museum shops or nonprofit organization stores can be exceptionally boring and painfully behind the times. That wasn’t true here. The shop was beautifully laid out and the merchandise was upscale and up-to-date. I was instantly drawn to the sale table where I found tons of great Christmas decorations at half price. I ended up buying the intricately detailed metal musical instrument ornaments shown in the photo above. I would have bought allot more if I had been closer to home. They had several gorgeous red rose topiaries and wreaths that were perfect for Valentine’s Day that I just couldn’t get home on the airplane.

Other gift items for music lovers include cards, stationery, books, clothing and more. Best of all, the store had an incredible selection of classical music recordings by the ASO; from Carl Orff's Carmina Burana, to Rimsky-Korsakov’s Scheherazade and Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9.

The store is located at the Woodruff Arts Center Complex on Peachtree Street in midtown, next to the High Museum of Art. It is open from 12:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Wednesday through Sunday and nights during ASO performances.
In the coming years, the symphony will be moving into a new strikingly modern performance hall that will change the face of Atlanta and symbolize the cultural aspirations of the city. We wish them luck and prosperity in this new era.
