There's a great photograph on Canoe’s website that drew us in like a magnet. It shows the restaurant glowing like a campfire along the Chattahoochee River. That’s how the place is; warm, welcoming and comforting. This feeling comes from the rustic materials used in the construction and the rustic dishes that they serve. The homemade breads here are outstanding, the soups hearty and tasty. Entrees include dishes like an incredible Sage Roasted Pheasant and a tender Beef Short Rib Osso Bucco. Dessert features creations by Pastry Chef Mayo like Canoe’s version of Baklava with Pecans and Chocolate Hazelnut Mouse Bombe.
Canoe is a great place to go to escape the city. The gardens along the river are a big attraction in the spring and the summer. From our research about the restaurant when we got back we learned that Canoe has had a stellar reputation for a long time and continues to gain recognition for its quality and creativity, which is a tribute to the integrity of Chef Carvel Grant Gould.
