The puppet museum, as we like to call it, opened on September 23, 1978. For the grand opening that day, Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson were there to cut the ribbon. Since then the center has reached over 80,000 students with its innovative distance learning tools.
The facilities at the center include; 3 theaters, an atrium, rehearsal space, a library, workshop rooms, a museum store and more. The center boasts a permanent collection of more than 1,000 puppets and reguarly hosts special exhibitions.
The center is located a few blocks away from the High Museum of Art in Midtown Atlanta near the interstate.
