I once knew an artist in Charleston South Carolina that made huge frog sculptures like this. I don't know if this is one of his or not but it surely looks like it.
I think the artist's name was Charles Smith. He was famous for his frog benches like this one and other frog fountain creatures. One of his best ones that I ever saw was one of Diogenes the Frog holding a lamp, looking for an honest man.
Anyway, the gardens feature the work of several important artists spread out all throughout the landscape and between the buildings. Some of the other notable pieces include an incredibly large and lyrical set of wrought iron gates by artist Andrew Crawford, and glass sculptures by artist Dale Chihuly.
Update: This is a Smith frog, done by Beau Smith, the son of Charles.
