When our vacation in Atlanta was over, we had to get back to the airport. We decided that we would take the train back out to the airport rather than one the shuttle bus that we had used when we arrived.


The Marta train station was right outside our hotel on Peachtree Street. We hopped on the train and headed south to the airport. Some friends had warned us that there were some bad stations on the way out to the airport, but we had no problems. The entire trip took us a matter of minutes. It was much less trouble than the airport shuttle had been.


Because of the great experiences we had with Marta during our vacation, in getting anywhere and everywhere we wanted to go, we have put it on our Best of Atlanta list. We also recommend the Breeze cards that allow you to save money and time by not having to pay $1.75 each time you get on the train or bus. You can buy a card for 7 or 30 days and use it as many times as you want for one low price.


In terms of transportation, there is another service which deserves mentioning. It is the free shuttle service that takes tourists, commuters and shoppers between midtown and Atlantic Station. You can pick up the bus at the Marta N5 Station – [Arts Center Station] next to the High Museum of Art and the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra and take it out to any of the Station’s great shops, restaurants or hotels.
