The stingray or the ray is a wonderfully elegant creature with those pectoral fins that act as wings. In person, this creature appears to fly instead of swim through the water. He makes it look so effortless, that you forget how heavy water is and how much resistance he is overcoming to move the way he does.

One can easily see why sports cars are named after this creature and why the early Corvette Stingrays look the way they do.

The tank where this photo was taken holds hords of rays, large and small.
